I did many sports during my childhood years: Football, Baseball, Volleyball, Tae Kwon Do, Krav Maga, though soccer was the one constant almost all my life. I guess I've been hybrid since I was a child :P At age 16, I started lifting weights to quit being skinny and become strong. I discovered CrossFit at age 21 and my first workout was an ego-destroyer. I don't like to suck at anything, so started training consistently and competed on local competition at an amateur level. I was never good at conditioning workouts but felt in love with weightlifting, powerlifting and lifting heavy things over my head.
I studied electrical mechanical engineering but after I graduated I wanted somehow continue to train and be linked to sports. At 26, 1 year after I graduated, I started working at UnderCover CrossFit. Fast forward, I was COO of the three locations in Mexico City.
I startedĀ coaching clients as a side hustle during the COVID pandemic when the gyms were closed, and to buy my first parachute (I'm a skydiver and one of my favorite hobbies is jumping off balloons). I discovered my passion for helping other people achieve their goals. Soon I realized this was the work I enjoyed the most and theĀ work I was better at. So, in 2022, I quit my job at UnderCover to pursue my full-time coaching career.
That year I started my fitness podcast and established my first Hybrid Project: run a marathon while improving my powerlifts. Running was (is) always my weakness, so it scared the shit out of me and I took that as a good sign. To my knowledge, I am the only Mexican who has done this thus far. After completing the challenge, I felt in love with Hybrid Training and also discovered that Hybrid Athletes where the type of clients I enjoyed working with the most.
Eager to know more and more as a coach on the topic, I did the Hybrid Course and started working 1-1 with Alex.
