A team training initiative designed to maximize your performance in two disciplines. There will be two tracks - the Powerlifting and short course (5k-10k), as well as the Powerlifting and long course (Half Marathon to Marathon).
This is your chance to work with me directly on a truly foundational hybrid program - one that maximizes performance across two disparate disciplines. If you're looking for something to do during an off season, want some guidance to your training, or just want to see what you're capable of, this is an excellent way to spend your fall training block!
FAQ:
Q: Is this the cost per month?
A: No, this is the cost for all three months, plus meet/race "entry" (we'll be reviewing results rigorously to determine winners)
Q: Can I finance the cost?
A: Yes - the Klarna option lets you choose a payment plan that can divide this into up to 18 payments!
Q: Are the two programs separate purchases?
A: No! A single entry grants you access to either, and you can switch at any point.
Q: How do I choose when I want to start?
A: Once enrolled, you will receive an email on August 27th. In this email, you will find a form where you may choose your start date (Any Monday in September) and starting track.
Q: If I start later, will I be on the same program for the same duration?
A: Your program will run for 12 weeks, and you will be performing similar (but customized) workouts as other members of the team.
The mock meets and mock races will run every weekend starting the last week of November and running through mid December, each one exactly 12 weeks from your starting week!
Q: What feedback and coaching will I receive, and who is designing the program?
A: All programming will be done by me (Alex Viada), and I will be the admin of the group chat (Whatsapp, available via invite once the program starts). I will provide guidance on weekly objectives (in training), and provide feedback on individual questions when I can! Group members are also encouraged to work with each other and provide tips and feedback.
Q: What's the total commitment per week?
A: Total commitment will be 3-4 days of weight training, and 3-5 running sessions per week (Running sessions will be labeled as "intermediate only" or "advanced addition" for runners who want or need more mileage, the base will be 3 runs). One base run will overlap with a lifting session, so there will be rest days! Guidance WILL be given on consolidating further if you're only able to train 3-4 days a week.
Q: I'm training for Hyrox/a triathlon/selection/something where I'll need to do more/different training as well. Is this possible?
A: Yes. If you follow the core lifting and running program, there is extra recovery/capacity "baked in" to the program that should allow for anywhere from 1-4 hours of additional training per week. Please contact me directly if you have specific questions! ([email protected])
Q: How late can I sign up?
A: You can sign up any time before September 1st. From September 1st through 14th, we will still accept new entries, for anybody who wants to start the final week of September, but the cost will go up slightly (since we'll have to do your entry entirely manually)
Q: I was part of the previous cohort (PL + 5K). Is there a discount for me?
A: Yes, there is! Simply enter in the date of the gait analysis from when that program started in a MMDDYY format (So June 7, 2022 would be 060722) in the coupon code for your discount!
Q: How will the mock meet/mock races be run?
A: These will be performed individually, though participants may certainly use an actual event as their entry (Within 15 calendar days of the end of their program). Instructions will be given in Whatsapp, and there will be a mailbox/drive link to upload lifting videos and GPS data. There will be men's and women's awards for both best performance and most improved, and a "combined" best Hybrid score that rewards the best combination of lifting + running (determined by a dots-based scoring system for lifting, and a "vs population norms" based scoring system for running) that will receive the largest prize (relatively speaking. :) )
